Tax assessor races are decided by a few thousand votes. We don't need miracles — we need conversations.

We're not a federal campaign. There's no consultant fee. Every dollar goes to printed materials, postage, sign production, and small in-county expenses.

What does the Chelan County Tax Assessor actually do?

The assessor's office identifies taxable property in the county, estimates the market value of each parcel, applies any exemptions (senior, disabled veteran, current-use farm/forest), and maintains property records. It does not set tax rates and does not decide budgets.

Does the assessor set my tax bill?

No. Tax rates are set by elected boards — schools, fire districts, the county commission, cities. Voters approve levies and bonds at the ballot box. The assessor's job is to value property fairly so taxes are distributed according to those rates.

Why does this race matter?

Because two parcels with similar features should be valued similarly — and right now there's no public methodology for confirming whether they are. When the office is opaque, families with time and lawyers can navigate the process and everyone else just pays the bill that arrived.

What happens if I think my assessment is wrong?

Today, you have 60 days from the notice mailing to file an appeal. The forms and process aren't well-explained on the county website. Britini's plan includes a one-page plain-language guide and quarterly office hours. See commitment #3 →

Where can I check my registration or find a drop box?

Use VoteWA for registration and Chelan County Elections for drop boxes and voting centers. Both are linked at the top of this page. Chelan County is a vote-by-mail county; ballots are mailed roughly two weeks before Election Day.
